The Future Nigeria Project, an initiative
of the Leaders Club of the Christian Network for Justice and Community
Development (CNJC), is an attempt to redefine leadership in Nigeria and to
extricate Nigeria from the claptrap of the past- the claptrap of neo- feudalism
and traditionalism. The Future Nigeria must be rooted in a social framework
that enables the nation to solve its social and economic problems and remain
stable. It must be rooted in a set of values, rules and institutions that
enable the country compete with the rest of the world in a fast changing global
economy. We must be a nation that survives in the future because we have built
ourselves to last.
The Leaders Club is organizing the Future
Nigeria Conference on May 10, 2014 in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory to
understand the crisis of leadership and development in Nigeria and to piece
together the values and institutional frameworks that will result in a future
Nigeria built to last. The conference will attract Nigerians of different
religious and political beliefs and interests who have a commitment to work for
a better Nigeria that works for everyone and survives the dynamics of
tomorrow’s world.
Social thinkers will present and discuss papers
on transformational leadership in Nigeria deriving inspirations from the
scriptures and the literature of leadership. The essence of the papers and the
discussion that follows them is to generate ideas on the kind of leadership
that can change the country and build a strong commitment to work towards a new
Nigeria of democratic and righteous social order that guarantees prosperity and
peace.
